Another Blair event takes center stage, and this time it’s the Masked Ball that is taking up everyone’s time and energy. Blair decides to use Jenny, who is always accommodating, as her go for to get everything she needs done for the Ball. Jenny is under the impression that she is invited to the dance, but Blair tells her that freshman are never invited as soon as she is done with all the work.
Blair encourages Serena to ask Dan to go to the masked ball with her, but Serena is hesitant because she thinks Dan will think it is dumb. Dan has Vanessa over and when Serena finally calls to invite him he lies and says it is Jenny she is overhearing. With Jenny in the room with her, Serena knows Dan is lying and decides to find another date.
Vanessa is busy trying to reestablish a relationship with Dan, not realizing that he is seeing someone else already. But as soon as Dan gets wind of Serena being dateless he decides to rent a tux and surprise her, blowing Vanessa off in the process. Vanessa makes it to the ball anyway when she helps Jenny sneak in and then confronts Dan and the fact that he told her he loved her before she left the city.
Dan then has the job of telling Vanessa that he does not feel the same way anymore, while still reassuring Serena that he really does like her. While in the bathroom jenny worries about getting noticed and swaps masks with Serena, on the way out though Nate mistakes Jenny for Serena and tells her he still loves her and tries to kiss her.
Jenny ducks out of the ball at midnight, but not before Blair grabs her borrowed bracelet from her wrist and realizes she is Jenny. Blair leaves the ball alone because Nate never came to find her, but Serena and Dan have a chance to make up before the night is over.
