Ah....Gossip Girl fans, it's back to school time and you know what that means. Wal-Mart, Kmart and leafing through circulars to find the best clothing deals? Maybe for us Gossip Girl fans, but not for our friends on the Upper East Side. It's orientation week, and this season 3 episode 2, "The Freshmen", proves that Gossip Girl isn't always the drama instigator.
The social tables have turned and Blair finds herself at the bottom. Blair is hell-bent on establishing herself as queen, but her kingdom comes crashing down when Georgina comes in announcing that they're roommates. Blair's posh party takeover scheme is a bust when everyone opts to chill with Vanessa and Georgina watching documentaries instead. Gossip Girl ouch!
If Blair's at the bottom, who's on top of the social hierarchy? DAN! Dan's old piece in The New Yorker lands him friends, groupies, and even a potential girl (that looks suspiciously like a Vanessa knockoff). GG fans, Dan doesn't let us down. He uses his powers for good. He foils Blair's attempt at ruining Georgina's party, which includes Blair's inviting a group of information-toting, tambourine playing Christians prepared to spread the gospel. Come on, Blair!
In other news, Serena delays going to Brown to find herself. She does find herself in the arms of Carter...again. In an act of sibling support, Chuck lets her crash at his place only for her to later sabotage (twice mind you) his chances of opening a speakeasy. Other arms being filled: Dan's with Georgina, Scott's with Vanessa and Nate's with Bree.
Always hot Gossip Girl music from this episode includes: Just Jack's "Embers", Names in Vain's "Problems with Authority", Cast's "What Do You Know About Jesus?", Cobra Starship (feat. Leighton Meester)'s "Good Girls Go Bad", Phoenix's "1901", and Cobra Starship's "Hot Mess".
