We have our first addition to the cast of Gossip Girl, Jessica Szohr has been cast as Vanessa, who if you remember from the book plays Dan's (Penn Badgley) childhood best friend who moved away from home and is now come back to New York all growns up and sporting a major cursh on her BFF.  Unfortunately, she arrives home at a bad time because Dan is falling deeply for Serena.  Jessica has a bunch of Television roles under her belt including 'CSI' and 'What About Brian'.  More on Jessica Szohr on her biography page.

The wait is over folks, today is the day for one of the most talked about new shows of the fall.  Gossip Girl has been creating some nice buzz in the media and lets hope it can live up to the hype.  

In this episode we meet all the characters including Blake Lively who plays Serena van der Woodsen.  Serena returns from boarding school to attend the Manhattan prep school she left mysteriously awhile back.  Her best friend Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester is not overly excited she returns but puts on a good act.  Also in the show is Dan Humphrey played by Penn Badgley and his on-screen sister Jenny Humphrey played by Taylor Momsen, both attend the Manhattan prep school and Dan has a bit of a crush on Serena.  Nate Archibald is played by hottie newcomer Chace Crawford who is still in love with Serena even though he is dating her best friend Blair.  The bad boy of the show is Chuck Bass played by Ed Westwick who has the attitude and the looks.  Nan Zhang and Nicole Fiscella play the groupie friends of Leighton Meester while Matthew Settle and Kelly Rutherford play the adult figures in the show.

The narrator of the show is Kristen Bell, best known from her starring role on 'Veronica Mars'.

The CW network is trying to create some solid buzz or they are just teasing us Gossip Girl fans with the first ten minutes which they have posted on Yahoo TV for anybody and everybody to view.  If the whole hour long drama is anything like the first ten minutes I would say The CW has a hit on their hands, it's that good.

I did decipher two songs from the intro video.  The first song played is "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John, and the other as everybody probably already knows is none other then "What Goes Around Comes Around" by Justin Timberlake.  There was a few other songs played but I am not sure if they were full songs or just jingles.  If you have any clue what they post them up in the forums music section.  Check out the Music Page for more about Gossip Girl Music.
