Gossip Girl Episode 17 Recap: "Woman On The Verge"

Woman On the Verge brings a whole new dose of drama, but it also shows us a different side of the characters we have come to know. After Serena shares her secret with Blair, the entire group of friends rallies around her and is genuinely concerned about her best interests. Old and new relationships are tested and brought into the light and in the end some things end up being forgiven, but new faults are created.

Instead of coming clean to Dan about where she has been and what is going on, Serena decides to lie to him about her past. She also tells Dan that she slept with some guy that she had met the night before so that he would no longer expect that she was hiding something from him. In the meantime, Blair, Nate and Chuck are trying to help Serena figure out how to deal with the details of the night a boy died in from of herself and Georgina from a cocaine overdose.

The Music in Gossip Girl Episode 17: "Woman On The Verge"

Woman On The Verge is a pretty hefty episode, and the music choices are as varied as the emotions and roles that each character takes on. The sounds of jazz and soothing melodies paired with touching lyrics fill the silence. As a bonus, GG band, Lincoln Hawk plays a cover of Pieces of Me by Song and Wagner. The band is playing the song at the very end of the episode, when Georgina has left the concert with Dan and the rest of the gang arrives at the concert to confront her.

There are more songs paired to Georgina scenes in this episode than any other. At the very beginning of the episode there is a montage of Georgina trying to repeatedly get a hold of Serena and phoning her non stop. During the montage Cities In Dust by Junkie XL featuring Lauren Rocket plays and leads into the scene where Lily begins to search Serena's room. When Georgina lies to Dan in order to get him to leave with her and dispel any rumors, Stay by Lisa Loeb plays in the background.

The Music in Gossip Girl Episode 16: "All About My Brother"

Great drama needs great music, and that is exactly what this episode delivers. True to every other episode new music accompanies scenes, and then there are the familiar tunes to even out the show.

Starting from the beginning, as Georgina pretends to be Sarah and chats with Vanessa at her work the sounds of Good To Be Alive by Joey Sykes fills the caf. The song fades a little into the background but the tune can still be heard as Dan enters the caf and meets the two girls. Music follows Georgina all the way to Serena's place where a new tune picks up as she joins the family for dinner. Say (All I Need) by One Republic breaks in and out of the dinner conversation; a conversation where Georgina ends up outing Eric to his entire family.

Gossip Girl Episode 16 Recap: "All About My Brother"

In All About My Brother, a gossip wars flares between Blair and Jenny as each tries to outdo the other with ridiculous and embarrassing half truths. While the gossip war between the two may provide entertainment, it really acts as fuel to the fire when it leads to the revelation of two out of three huge secrets that are dropped in this episode. Serena, Asher and Eric are the ones keeping back secrets, but when Jenny finds herself caught up in the mess she dives right in instead of running the other way. Blair and Georgina play roles that they know best, instigators.

Dan finds out about Asher's secret relationship, with an unknown male, and tries to warn Jenny after realizing that Asher is not about to own up to it. When Gossip Girl gets wind of the rumor Jenny finds out the truth directly from Asher who makes light of the situation and acts like Jenny was supposed to already know. Instead of walking away from the entire situation Jenny thinks only of keeping up with her friends and decides to play along with Asher.

The Music in Gossip Girl Episode 15: "Desperately Seeking Serena"

Gossip Girl continues to bring fresh music to each and every episode from a roundup of indie bands just making a name for themselves or already favorites with a huge fan following. In, Desperately Seeking Serena the music is loud and rocking, but every song has just the perfect lyrics to capture the mood of each scene. Here are the songs played, the bands that played them and where each tune was played in this episode of Gossip Girl.

The upcoming SATs that the entire crew must undergo is the source of much stress, anticipation and of course thoughts about the future. Two songs in this week's episode are dedicated to highlight and accompany the group as they go along with all the necessary preparations for the big day. Do The Panic by Phantom Planet opens the episode and bops along through an SAT prep monologue and a couple other SAT related scenes. Later in the episode Campus by Vampire Weekend comes in while Dan, Vanessa and Nate discuss the upcoming tests.

Gossip Girl Episode 15 Recap: "Desperately Seeking Serena"

Not one to let things get at all boring, Gossip Girl brings bad girl Georgina into the mix to ruffle everyone's feathers. Last episode saw Blair and Chuck alarmed by Georgina's contact with them, and sure enough she makes an entrance on this episode, Desperately Seeking Serena, and deep into the lives of the characters. SAT prep and more Blair schemes play out around the Georgina and Serena reunion.

Georgina wastes no time moving in on the group of friends, especially Serena. Despite Serena's obvious reluctance to join Georgina on her escapades, S and G head out for a night on the town and Serena ends up skipping out on Dan and their study session. Asking Chuck to lie for her isn't the smartest move and Dan doesn't believe Chuck or Serena, later catching Serena in her lie. Not learning from her first mistake Serena again goes out with Georgina on what should be a tame dinner, but instead turns out with Georgina drugging Serena causing her to miss the SATs.
