Gossip Girl Episode 13 - The Hurt Locket
Saturday, 13 March 2010

Gossip Girl Episode 13 The Hurt LocketOh Gossip Girl, how much I’ve missed you! Remember that international drug dealer Little J was carelessly skipping around town with? Well, things are slowly heating up in their business relationship. Lily is a bit concerned and discusses an open-door policy with Jenny when boys are in her room.

Lily should be that worried about her own relationship. Rufus is avoiding her like the plague. When he finally does come home, he’s not happy when Lily fesses up to kissing her ex-hubby while she and Rufus were still engaged. Lucky for Rufus, Apartment 24A is waiting with open arms.

On Gossip Girl’s steamier side, Nate and Serena move from warm to hot to cold in one day’s time. Serena asks Damien to the French Ambassador’s Dinner after feeling played when Nate reiterates that they should slow down. Jenny comes to Nate’s rescue as his dinner date. Their biggest mistake was taking relationship advice from Dan, who is still pining over Vanessa, and Blair, who still plays twisted games with Chuck.

Speaking of Chuck, he is still stuck on the woman he saw at his father’s grave. After some investigative work, he finds her address and comes clean with Blair about believing Elizabeth is really is mother. Unfortunately for Chuck, Elizabeth adamantly denies being or knowing his mom. After Blair calls Elizabeth on her crap, Elizabeth calls Chuck from a blocked number. Naturally, he misses the call.

Hot Gossip Girl music from this episode includes: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ " Janglin,” The Breakups’ “Go Away,” The Big Pink’s “At War With The Sun,” and Seawolf’s “Spirit Horse.” The music from Gossip Girl doesn’t stop there because Monsters of Folk’s “Map of the World,” The XX’s “Crystalized,” and Athlete’s “Wild Wolves” are also featured Gossip Girl songs in this episode.

Gossip Girl Episode 12 - the Debarted
Monday, 14 December 2009

Gossip Girl Episode 12 the DebartedTop reasons to watch Gossip Girl: music, fashion, and Drama. While "The Debarted" seemed like it was going to primarily deal with Chuck's issues, Serena's issues take the forefront. This Gossip Girl episode opens with Tripp and Serena looking like they're about to get into a car accident. You're kept on the edge of your seat because we don't get back to this scene almost until the episode ends.

Tripp and Serena appear to be in adulterated bliss. Leaving her alone at their getaway and pretending to meet with his grandfather, Tripp meets Maureen to boldly proclaim that he is adamant about the divorce. His boldness is short-lived. When Tripp proves he's more mouse than man, Nate steps up to the plate.

Not only does Maureen get Tripp to go along with letting her talk to Serena about sharing him, but she also threatens to use the letter against Lily if Serena doesn't comply. Lily is mortified to learn that Maureen has the letter and promises Serena that she will tell Rufus. Poor Rufus is an innocent bystander in these women's twisted webs of love.

Blair confronts Chuck about his abnormal behavior, saying she knows it's the anniversary of his father's death. Chuck has to face his demons (really his father's ghost) before he loses everything important to him. In finding closure, another door opens. Could the mysterious dark-haired woman he spies at his father's grave be his mother?

Jenny and Eric finally call a truce!

Music from Gossip Girl was a little meatier this week. Hot Gossip Girl songs from this episode include: The Raveonettes' "Suicide", M83's "Too Late", Nico Stai's "Silent Night", The Rosebuds' "Click Click Click", White Rabbits' "Right Where They Left", and Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" (ft. Alicia Keys).

Gossip Girl Episode 11 - Treasure of Serena Madre
Monday, 07 December 2009

Gossip Girl Episode 11 Treasure of Serena MadreGossip Girl delivers so much Thanksgiving drama in "The Treasure of Serena Madre" that it makes our recent holiday horrors seem almost delightful.

Rufus shakes things up by planning a traditional Thanksgiving for the Humphrey-Van der Woodsen clan. The dinner gets complex as many characters are brought together that should have as much distance between them as possible.

Tripp is forced to cancel his secret plans with Serena when Maureen suggests they spend Thanksgiving together. Ironically, Lily and Maureen run into each other and Lily invites her over. Always the opportunist, Serena takes Nate as a replacement. Too bad Serena doesn't bank on Nate teaming up with Maureen to put an end to the Tripp and Serena romance.

Mother issues abound! Unable to stay on campus and having nowhere else to go after fighting with her mother, Vanessa runs to her bestie. Dan helps them patch things up. Too bad he's not left alone with his thoughts for long. Rufus invites mom and Vanessa to Thanksgiving dinner. Discovering her mother's will will soon be changed and an unexplained pregnancy test, Blair suspects her mother is pregnant. Rufus surprises Lily with her mom, but the surprise is on him.

Serena finds that mystery letter from her father in their safe. Suddenly, Lily's threat for Serena to end the affair or she's no longer welcome in their family has no clout. I can't wait to watch Gossip Girl in the upcoming weeks to see what is revealed about Lily. Speaking of Humphrey drama, Jenny finally discovers Eric's role at the cotillion.

The list of music from Gossip Girl this week is slim. Gossip Girl music from this episode includes: Vampire Weekend's "White Sky", The Raveonettes' "Last Dance", Thao's "Cool Yourself", Paramore's "The Only Exception", and Jason Derulo's "Whatcha Say" (ft. Imogen Heap).

Gossip Girl Episode 10 - The Last Days of Disco Stick
Monday, 23 November 2009
Gossip Girl Episode 10 The Last Days of Disco StickI couldn’t watch Gossip Girl anymore without bitter feelings if this episode hadn’t dealt with the fact that my fave twosome and tolerable onesome shared that extra hot moment and now have to live in its aftermath. Dan’s feel good mentality about the threesome is short-lived when the weirdness between Olivia and Vanessa turns into rivalry. A choice must be made, but it's not Dan who decides. Nate ends up playing love doctor to Dan and Serena, both relying on his sexpertise, but can this physician heal himself? Aiming to keep Serena drunkenly distracted and out the arms of Tripp, Nate admits to having been in love with her. So is Nate really helping a friend in need or making sure he has her for himself? Too bad Tripp shows up at the bar and steals Serena away to discuss his crumbling marriage. Little J bored with her queenly duties. Things get interesting when she finds herself in the company of an international drug smuggler. Chuck warns Jenny to stay away, but a queen takes orders from no one. Blair hopes to gain acceptance with the theatre elite with a Lady Gaga appearance, so she teams up with Olivia. They convince Dan to rewrite Snow White. To succeed, the threesome works together again but they don't work as well together this time. The killer list of Gossip Girl songs includes three from Lady Gaga: “Dance in the Dark”, “Bad Romance”, and “Telephone” (ft. Beyonce). Magic Bullets also have a big impact on the music from Gossip Girl this week with two songs: “It’s Natural to Me” and “Bombay”. Rounding out the Gossip Girl music from this episode is: Thecockandbullkid’s “Boys and Girls”, Needers & Givers’ “Fillin’ in the Space”, Estate’s “Over & Out”, and Jason Diaz’s “Lies for the Truth”.

Gossip Girl Episode 9 - They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?
Monday, 16 November 2009

Gossip Girl Episode 9 They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?I could not wait to watch Gossip Girl this week! It is no stranger to hotties, well...exploring each other's hotness, but "They Shoot Humphreys, Don't They?" teases of a ménage à trois. In this one Gossip Girl episode, will we watch Gossip Girl faves turn from risky to risqué?

Dan and Vanessa are determined to get Olivia to stay in college and ditch the movie sequel she's being pressured to do by showing her the ultimate college experience. How will this threesome feel the next morning? The movie is a no-go.

Remember when I questioned how these Gossip Girl episodes were going to keep up with college and high school antics? This episode merges their worlds with a dance. It's cotillion time, and Jenny is dead set on having Graham Collins be her escort and ticket into society's upper echelon. Little J has more to worry about than dance steps when Eric teams up with Blair to teach her a lesson in humility.

Too bad Blair taught Jenny a little too well. Not to be humiliated, Jenny uses a life line and phones a friend. Nate saves the day, escorting the queen to her rightful place above all the other queens. Jenny's social debut is epic as she is on the arm of not only a legend but a college guy. Eric loses Jenny to the dark side and loses Jonathan in the process. Game over? We think not.

There were tons of great Gossip Girl songs in this episode: Plastiscines "Bitch" and "I am Down", One for the Team's "Questions & Panthers", Basement Jaxx's "Saga"(ft. Santogold), Leighton Meester's "Somebody to Love" (ft. Robin Thicke), Anya Marina's "Whatever You Like", Immoor's "Bows & Arrows", Stella Project's "Underneath My Skin" and "Ready to Freak", and Classic's "Play to Win".

Gossip Girl Episode 8 the Grandfather Part 2
Saturday, 07 November 2009

Gossip Girl Episode 8 The Grandfather Part 2If you watched last week's Gossip Girl episode, you know there's tension brewing between S and B. Chuck tries to be the voice of reason, but his pleas fall on deaf ears. "The Grandfather" (Part 2), adds some political drama to the social drama, and Serena and Blair prove they can't be on their behavior at important events.

Nate's cousin, Tripp, is running for congress, but his campaign isn't looking good. Nate suggests asking their grandfather for help, but Tripp wants a clean campaign. Much of the action from this Gossip Girl episode happens at the Vanderbilt election party.

Vanessa covers the behind the scenes footage of the campaign and luckily gets footage of Tripp saving a stranger from drowning in the Hudson. Tripp's campaign is saved! Coincidence? Nate thinks not, and Vanessa knows not. Will Nate sacrifice his friendship with Vanessa to save his cousin's campaign? Nate has already proved once that he puts family ahead of friends. His morals are at stake again, and Vanessa calls him on it.
